Description

Meet the Moonlight kani zari modal darbar stole, a modal stole designed for those who value craftsmanship as much as comfort. This piece showcases the centuries-old Kani weaving technique, where patterns are woven thread-by-thread using small wooden sticks called 'kanis' combined with hand-done Ari embroidery, a hook-needle technique historically used in Kashmiri chain-stitch work combined with fine zari (metallic thread) weaving for a subtle shimmer, a hallmark of authentic Kashmiri handwork passed down through generations of artisans. The kani zari darbar design gives it a distinct character that sets it apart from mass-produced alternatives. Ideal for heritage, artisanal, festive, festive, wedding, formal, it layers effortlessly over both ethnic and contemporary outfits.

From the valley

Woven by hand, not by the hour

A single Kani stole can hold weeks of work on the loom. The pattern is built thread by thread with small wooden bobbins, following a coded script passed between weavers. Nothing about it is quick, and that is the point.
